Behind The Ear (BTE) hearing aids are the world's most common hearing aid style.

BTE hearing aids are available in mini, standard, or power plus sizes.

As the name suggests, a standard behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids sit directly behind the ear and transmit sound into the ear canal via clear plastic sound tube. The tube is connected to either a small diameter acoustic tubing channeled or a discreet ‘thin-tube’ attached to a custom-made ear-mould.

The BTE hearing aid design allows for an open canal ear mould that allows low frequency sounds to enter the ear naturally while higher frequencies are amplified. This improves overall sound quality and can be used by the majority of people as high frequency hearing loss is most common.

For people with a more severe hearing loss, BTE hearing aids can be attached to a ear-mold which fits the entire opening of the ear canal. This allows a broader range of frequencies are amplified.
