On Tuesday’s America’s Got Talent, Mandy Harvey age 29, told the audience about her total hearing loss and her inspirational journey back to music.

After I lost my hearing, I gave up, but I want to do more with my life than just give up - Mandy Harvey

Singing since the age of 4, Mandy lost her hearing by 18 years of age due to a connective tissue disorder what destroyed the hearing nerves. “I left music after I lost my hearing and then figured out how to get back into singing with muscle memory, using visual turners and trusting my pitch.” Mandy went shoe less on stage so that she could feel the tempo and the beat through the floor to compensate for her deafness.

Harvey confided that her original composition, "Try," was a very personal song that she wrote to remind herself not to give up on her dreams. The crowd responded and was full of tears while Mandy gave a truly inspirational performance.

The performance ended with the audience and judges giving her a standing ovation. Thanks to judge Simon Cowell hitting the Golden Buzzer, Mandy Harvey automatically advances to the semi finals of America's Got Talent 2017.
