Enjoying a Prairie summer means sun and heat followed by rain and humidity. Despite most modern hearing aids being water resistant, they are like all electronic devices in the fact that they work their best when kept dry and clean.
Short term exposure to water and moisture is unavoidable and it's not a problem per se, but long term it could invite some damage to the most delicate parts causing performance issues. Below we have two solutions for keeping hearing aids dry and working their best. The bonus is both are environmentally friendly!
If your hearing aids are defined as water-resistant and not waterproof, it’s best you avoid extended exposure to humidity and water.
The PerfectDry Lux is Widex’s electronic hearing aid dryer that efficiently dries and cleans. It uses UV-C light to kill 99.9% of the germs, bacteria, and fungi that accumulate over the day from wearing and handling. This helps to prevent ear infections and the run time is just 45 minutes. This handy little device is portable as well and can be powered by a micro-USB cord. Ask for a demo next time you are in the store. We regularly have the PerfectDry Lux in stock.
Hal-Hen's® Super Dry Aid is a drying system using a simple drying agent known to chemists as molecular sieves. They are basically fancy rocks (no dangerous chemicals) with repeating holes in them of a specific size that trap water molecules. They have a blue indicator on them that will turn colour as they become "full". Instead of buying a new bottle you simple heat in an oven or a microwave oven as per instructions to drive off the water. The indicator will confirm they are regenerated and ready to use by becoming blue again. Simple and environmentally friendly. One bottle can last for years and we regularly keep it in stock.
